Transposition of meanings



The workshop focused on the transposition of meanings in the city of Venice: streets become canals, blocks become islands, houses become boats...

The exercise on the Fondaco dei Turchi building starts from a volumetric transposition of empty-full: the cloister became a central volume that houses public functions (media library, newspaper library, games room), while keeping only the facades from the old building.

The ground floor is flooded and changes its configuration depending on the tide.
